What to Do Before a Pressure Washing Service (Mebane Home Prep Checklist)

Booking a pressure washing service is the first step. A few minutes of preparation before the crew arrives makes the job go faster, protects your property, and ensures the best possible results.
The Day Before
Clear the Exterior - **Move outdoor furniture** away from siding and walkways being cleaned - **Take down hanging baskets and decorations** from areas being washed - **Move vehicles** out of the driveway if it's being cleaned - **Bring in pet bowls, toys, and bedding** from the work area
Address Landscaping - **Cover or move delicate plants** within 3–5 feet of cleaning zones - **Trim back overgrown shrubs** that block siding access - **Make sure outdoor faucets** are functional and accessible
Open Communication - **Confirm gate codes** for fenced backyards - **Note any sensitive areas** (newly painted, recent repairs, fragile lights) - **Identify shut-off valves** if requested
The Morning Of
Inside the Home - **Close all windows tightly** - **Lock doors and storm doors** - **Move plants away from windowsills** that might get sprayed - **Bring pets inside** for the duration of the job
Outside the Home - **Disconnect any outdoor extension cords** - **Cover exposed electrical outlets** if they don't have weatherproof covers - **Move grills, smokers, and outdoor electronics** to a safe area - **Park vehicles 20+ feet from the work zone** to avoid overspray
For Roof Cleaning - **Close attic vents** if accessible - **Note any active roof leaks** so we can avoid those areas - **Move vehicles fully off the driveway and front of the house**

During the Service
- Stay inside with pets during active cleaning
- Avoid using outdoor faucets while we're working
- Don't open windows or doors in active wash zones
After the Service
- Wait 30–60 minutes before walking on cleaned concrete
- Allow soft-washed siding to fully dry (usually 2–4 hours)
- Don't rinse anything for at least 24 hours — let the cleaning chemistry work
